All activities are aimed at language practice.
The Junior Summer Camp program is designed to provide students with the linguistic tools they need to understand and communicate in English through a wide range of balanced and enriching activities, all of which place an emphasis on oral practice.
Students are encouraged to use their acquired linguistic skills in a variety of contexts which not only develop their proficiency in the English language but support the development of creativity, collaboration and confidence as they work together to imitate real life situations.
The pedagogies which underpin the teaching and learning ethos at the summer camp recognise the many different learning styles students will bring with them. Through the use of stimulating, relevant and authentic materials and hands-on activities such as theatre, music, art, sports and games, the students will develop and broaden their skills while at the same time, commit vocabulary and core grammatical elements of language learning to their long term memories.
Students are encouraged, through the teaching styles adopted at the summer camp, to formulate questions and responses linked to the daily activities and their immediate needs which gradually increase in their linguistic complexity.
The techniques and multi-sensory approaches to language learning used at the summer camps guarantee high student interest and engagement:
• A system of house points enables students to use competition not only as a language development tool but also to support self-control, active participation and positive interactions;
• Advanced and systematic approaches to the teaching and learning of the English language not only advances linguistic abilities but also fosters the appreciation of multiculturality.
A system of awards and house points allows to rediscover competition as an element of self-control, participation and loyal interaction.
